WATCH VIDEO: Former Biden-Harris ambassador to Israel tells ALL ISRAEL NEWS that Americans should trust Kamala Harris to have Israel's back
Amb. Tom Nides dismisses poll showing Israelis support Trump over Harris – urges bipartisan US support for Jewish state
JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – How should the United States handle the raging war between Israel and the Iranian regime and its terror proxies?
This has been a major point of discussion and debate within the American presidential campaign.
Indeed, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald J. Trump have sharply and repeatedly disagreed over who is more "pro-Israel."
They have also battled over how best to strengthen U.S.-Israel relations, expand the Abraham Accords, and contain or neutralize the Iranian nuclear and terror threat over the next four years.
To be clear, ALL ISRAEL NEWS is a non-profit and thus non-partisan media organization.
We don't endorse candidates for political office in Israel, the United States, or anywhere else.
Rather, we report as fairly and as accurately as possible about what the candidates are saying and doing, and on the polls.
When possible, we also interview senior leaders and advisors on both sides of the aisle to better understand the candidates' personal stories and policy positions.
That's why I was grateful yesterday to have the opportunity to interview Tom Nides, the former Biden-Harris ambassador to Israel from 2021 through 2023.
Close to both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Nides previously served as Deputy Secretary of State during the Obama administration when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.
Thus, few know Harris and her inner circle – and her approach towards Israel, Iran, and the Sunni Arab world – better than Nides.
Nides and I first met and became friends when he was serving as ambassador in Jerusalem.
During that time, ALL ISRAEL NEWS published several interviews with him and stories about him.
In the 20-minute video above, you'll see Nides respond to a new Wall Street Journal poll that shows 49% of Americans believe Trump would be the best president to handle the Hamas and Hezbollah wars, while only 34% believe Harris would be best.
I also asked Nides about a new poll that found 66% of Israelis want Trump to be re-elected and only 17% want Harris to become America's commander-in-chief.
Nides dismissed both polls and made a vigorous defense of Harris.
He said he believes Harris will be able to conclude an historic peace treaty between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
He also made a vigorous case that Israel is too important to become a partisan issue in the United States.
While Nides is Jewish, born and raised in a Jewish family in Minnesota, he urged the largely Evangelical Christian audience of ALL ISRAEL NEWS to see Harris as someone who loves Israel and will always have Israel's back.
In the final days of campaign 2024, the race for president is way too close to call.
I honestly have no idea whether Harris or Trump will win.
But it is very possible that if Harris wins, she may turn to Nides to play a key role in her administration.
