Wall Street Journal editorial accuses Biden of treating Netanyahu worse than Iran

In a recent editorial, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) accused U.S. President Joe Biden of treating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu worse than Iran.

“Why does President Biden go out of his way to snub, criticize and give marching orders to the government of Israel? At least rhetorically, the President and his Administration treat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his governing coalition worse than they do the ruling mullahs in Iran,” the WSJ Editorial Board wrote.

The paper further argued that the Biden administration’s conduct toward Israel is inappropriate, especially given the strong relationship and shared interests between the two nations.

“This is no way to treat a democratic ally and no way to pursue U.S. interests while Mr. Netanyahu’s Likud Party is in power, as it has been for most of the past 25 years.”

In late March, Biden made headlines when he publicly blasted the Netanyahu government for its controversial judicial overhaul plan.

“They cannot continue down this road. I've sort of made that clear,” stated Biden.

Earlier this month, outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides echoed Biden’s sentiments when he claimed Washington needed to prevent Israel from “going off the rails.”

Israeli Diaspora Affairs and Social Equality Minister Amichai Chikli recently accused the Biden administration of coordinating its verbal attacks on the Netanyahu government with the Israeli opposition.

“Every time they [overhaul opponents] want to fan the flames, all of a sudden there’s a comment from the direction of the [U.S.] president. I think these comments are prompted and timed by Lapid and Barak and their people, who are friends with these people [in the Biden administration],” Chikli said.

The WSJ editorial concluded that Biden's current policy on Israel is counterproductive and only strengthens the radical Iranian regime and its terrorist proxies in the Middle East.
