Transcript [00:09] Hello all Israel News viewers. I'm Moran [00:11] Moran. I'm here at the bottom of Mount [00:13] Tor and we are climbing this mountain [00:17] all the way to the top bringing you guys [00:18] along. This is the alleged mount of [00:21] transfiguration. [music] Uh we're going [00:23] to talk about the biblical importance of [00:24] this mountain and we're going to bring [00:26] you guys along showing you guys all the [00:28] beautiful views on this beautiful winter [00:30] day. Let's go. I'm being told it's [00:32] [music] a very crazy steep incline the [00:36] whole way. You're also going to see a [00:38] lot of very beautiful green views. You [00:42] can see the mud cuz it's been raining. [00:44] And I'm sure that as we go up this is [00:48] going to get more and more [music] [00:50] beautiful. And you can already see [00:53] everything in blue. [01:08] I'm not the most in shape person, [01:11] [laughter] but I'm also not out [music] [01:12] of shape completely. And I can tell you [01:14] guys that this is very steep. Um, steep [01:17] enough that you can feel it. And we're [01:19] just at the beginning. [01:21] So, if you're an avid hiker, I think [01:24] that this would be maybe like what a [01:25] medium medium sort of hike. Um, but also [01:30] the great thing about it is you can [01:32] always stop and look back at the view [01:36] and take your time going up. [01:47] So to help you along, [01:50] they have these little marks. You can [01:52] see this all over Israel. Also in the [01:54] world, they probably do something [01:55] similar. And it tells you where to [01:57] continue. So every once in a while, you [02:00] see they have another one there. It'll [02:03] show you basically where to continue so [02:04] that you don't get lost. And then [02:06] there's another one right over there. [02:08] We're halfway up the mountain. You can [02:11] see the view is becoming a bit more [02:12] wide, a bit more clear. And at some [02:14] point you have this trail. We're just [02:16] going to continue on this trail for a [02:17] bit. I'm telling you guys, if you ever [02:19] travel in Israel in the winter, the air [02:23] is clear. It's fresh here. You can feel [02:26] the green and sort of just inhale it [02:28] into your lungs. There's nothing like [02:30] the beauty of it is, our beautiful, [02:33] beautiful land of Israel. [02:35] >> Amen. [02:35] >> Amen. Ah, it looks like you could [02:38] continue there and you could probably go [02:40] like around the mountain for a bit. But [02:42] actually, my friend is like, "Actually, [02:45] we're [music] going to take a steep [02:46] turn." So, we're going to start [02:48] climbing. Let's go. Oh, you can do it [02:51] from there or you could do it from here. [02:54] Probably the easier way. Still have to [02:56] mind your step. I know the weather will [02:58] [singing and music] get cold. [03:03] >> Yeah, this is steep, [03:06] >> but you take it easy. [03:12] [music] [03:17] [music] [03:17] >> You are going. [singing] [03:21] >> Look at that. Not that much. I know. [03:23] [singing and music] I'm sure. [03:26] >> So, at some point, [03:28] >> can't see it, but [03:30] >> becomes steep to the point where you're [03:33] sort of like on an incline. [03:37] >> Someday you will be [music and singing] [03:38] stronger than you are now. [03:42] But you will not [music] know [singing] [03:43] everything. [03:46] And when the water [singing and music] [03:48] spill over the bow, [03:52] you'll still [music] mess. [03:55] >> We have made it to [03:58] >> basically the top. Look at that. [04:00] >> Look at that viewpoint. [04:03] >> There's people up here hiking. There's [04:04] people up here enjoying themselves. And [04:07] this view is really just a stunner. [04:10] >> Wow. How worth it. It's so green. It's [04:15] so lush and so calm. Very calm. [04:32] >> Wow. I'm going to write down here below [04:37] what we're seeing. But you have to [04:40] understand the thing about Israel is [04:42] that everywhere you go, even though this [04:43] place has a biblical significance that [04:45] we're going to touch on in a second, it [04:47] also has a significance to different [04:49] religions and different people groups [04:51] that have been here. You're just walking [04:54] through layers and layers [04:57] >> of history. [music] [05:01] But you will not [singing] know [05:02] everything. [05:03] >> So guys, everywhere you walk on this [05:05] mountain, you [music] can walk all over [05:07] the top and [05:08] >> every place you turn, there's something [05:09] else. So we're walking into [music] this [05:10] monastery right now. [05:12] >> You feel a calm and peace sort of wash [05:15] over you. There's people here. It's a [05:18] Friday. People are traveling. People are [05:20] coming to beautiful places. And I'm [05:22] telling you, this place is just [05:25] something else. You can hear the birds. [05:28] You can hear the birds. [05:30] You just feel embraced [music] by the [05:33] mountain. So nice. [05:59] >> [music] [06:04] >> Heat. Heat. [06:08] [music] [06:14] Heat. [06:17] [music] [06:27] [music] [06:31] Heat. [06:40] Power. [06:42] [music] [07:02] Hey. Hey. [07:07] >> [music] [07:15] [music] [07:16] >> In Matthew 17, it talks about the story [07:19] of Yeshua transfiguring [music] [07:21] before Peter, James, and John. Now, [07:24] let's put ourselves in their shoes [07:26] [music] for a second. When the disciples [07:29] were with Yeshua, he came in that human [07:31] form. They didn't see him as a glorified [07:36] Yeshua. They saw him as in a sense one [07:39] of them. All of a sudden, three chosen [07:42] disciples seeing Yeshua in his glorified [07:45] form [music] together with Moses and [07:48] Elijah. And you can tell that this [07:50] experience [music] was so beyond their [07:52] understanding. They could probably [07:54] really never look at Yeshua the same. [07:56] What's really important is what God [07:58] spoke that day on the mountain. He said, [08:00] "This is my son with whom I'm well [08:02] pleased. Listen to him." And I think [08:06] that that's the most important thing out [08:07] of all these things. It's [music] not [08:08] just seeing God in his glory because we [08:10] can see God in all of his glory, but if [08:12] we don't obey, then we've sort of missed [08:15] the whole point. And this basilica [08:17] behind me really [music] reminds us to [08:19] do this. [08:24] [music] [08:32] >> [music] [08:42] [music] [08:42] >> So what also happens on Mount Toron and [08:45] in this valley is the story spoken about [08:48] in Judges 4 [music] when God tells [08:50] Deborah the prophetist to call Barak and [08:53] tell him basically to go up and fight. [08:57] They talk about Mount Tav in this [08:59] scripture. This is the mountain where [09:01] that happened. This is the valley in [09:02] which that battle took place against the [09:05] Canaanites. A lot a lot of history on [09:07] this one mountain. [09:18] [music] [09:20] This day has been absolutely [09:21] spectacular. [09:22] >> [music] [09:22] >> I've enjoyed climbing this mountain, [09:25] going up to the basilica, exploring [09:27] around, seeing these views with you, [09:29] seeing [music] where things have [09:30] allegedly happened and things have [09:32] happened for sure, like in the book of [09:34] Judges. Uh, if you're planning to come [09:36] to Israel, [music] this definitely is [09:37] one of the places that you should come [09:39] and visit. Thank you guys so much for [09:41] watching. Join ALL ISRAEL NEWS correspondent Oriel Moran as she hikes to the top of Mount Tabor, believed to be the Mount of Transfiguration — where Yeshua revealed His glory before Peter, James, and John (Matthew 17).
On a beautiful winter day in Israel, she climbs the steep trail, takes in breathtaking green views, and explores the historic basilica at the summit. Along the way, the video reflects on the biblical significance of this mountain — not only the Transfiguration, but also the battle described in Judges 4, when Deborah and Barak confronted the Canaanites in this very region.
