Respected Messianic scholar and author, David H. Stern, laid to rest in Jerusalem at the age of 86
On the day of erev Sukkot, friends and family gathered at the funeral of David Harold Stern, a respected scholar and author, considered to be one of the beloved pioneers of the Jewish Messianic movement in Israel.
The American-born Messianic Jewish theologian Stern passed away on Saturday morning, just a couple of weeks short of his 87th birthday. His family welcomed attendees from across the country, many of whom shared personal stories of their meaningful encounters with Stern and honored his many contributions to the faith community.
Stern was the author of eight books related to the Messianic Jewish faith. His major work, the Complete Jewish Bible, includes his English translation of the Tanakh and New Testament, and is used widely by Bible scholars for its unique translation and transliteration of ancient Hebrew and Greek.
Stern was buried at Har HaMenuchot, Jerusalem’s largest hilltop burial ground located in the neighborhood of Givat Shaul.
