The beloved Israeli singer and Fauda star Idan Amedi has released his first music single since being seriously injured while serving as a reservist combat soldier in the fight against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

His new single "Superman" features powerful lyrics, including the line, "I’m no longer afraid to die," capturing Amedi's profound personal journey. After sustaining serious injuries in battle, gradually has gradually recovered, finding the strength to embrace life once more.

“Superman” is part of Amedi’s new album, which is scheduled to be released on Jan. 6, 2025.

Amedi dedicated his new single to four soldier friends who were killed in Gaza, as well as the hospital staff that saved his life and supported his recovery.

“After the darkness I’ve experienced, a thousand abysses, I want to thank everyone who took part in the long process I’ve gone through this past year – in the hospital, in rehab, in the studio, and at home. Even though there are no supermen in real life, you are the closest that I’ve ever met. I dedicate this song to the memories of my friends Alexei, Akiva, Gavriel, and Eliran [fellow soldiers killed in Gaza]. You’re in my thoughts every day,” Amedi wrote in a social media post.

In early January, Amedi was seriously injured during a battle against terrorists in Gaza. He was transported in an unconscious state for urgent treatment to an Israeli hospital where the staff saved his life.

After regaining his consciousness, Amedi urged the politically divided people of Israel to unite and defend the Jewish state.

“I join my brother reservists in calling on the politicians, all the media outlets, and everyone: Whoever doesn’t have something good to say, simply shut your mouths. The people of Israel live,” Amedi wrote on social media.

Amedi vowed, “I will sing and act again.”

After recovering from his injuries and being released from hospital in July 2024, Amedi lauded "life" as a miracle.

"Reminding myself that everything is a miracle. Nothing in this life should be taken for granted," Amedi stated

"We all learned this the hard way over the past year. This land, its people, the sense of security, while moments, sunrise, sunset, a mother's excitement over her 35-year-old son's simple walk for a few meters. Nothing is to be taken for granted. Everything is a world unto itself,” he assessed.

While Amedi is a popular singer in Israel, he is internationally known for his role in Fauda, the hit Israeli counter-terrorism series on Netflix, which has garnered a large following in both Western and Middle Eastern nations.

In January, Fauda co-producer Avi Issacharoff confirmed that the upcoming fifth season would include the context of the unprecedented Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israeli border communities. Hamas terrorists massacred over 1,200 Israelis, largely civilians, including women, children and Holocaust survivors.

“Some people will be able to ignore it [the war] but we can’t; we will have to write the war in, in some way,” Issacharoff said at an event in London.

Fauda, which means "chaos" in Arabic, has been praised for its realistic and nuanced portrayal of Israeli undercover counter-terrorism units and their various foes in Judea, Samaria, Gaza, Lebanon and beyond.
