Medical sources told Kan News that from one phase to the next, the condition of those returning from Hamas captivity is worsening. This was reported this evening (Saturday) on Shabbat News on Kan 11. According to these sources, this raises concerns regarding the upcoming phases of the hostage release deal.
Additional medical sources stated that Or Levy, Eli Sharabi, and Ohad Ben Ami arrived in Israel in a state of severe malnutrition, which has had a significant impact on their medical condition, including muscle damage and depletion of bone reserves.
Earlier today, a medical official who treated them said that their condition is no different from that of people who were held in a concentration camp for a year, and that it is reminiscent of Gilad Shalit's health condition when he was released from captivity after more than five years.
According to the sources, the potential damage caused by prolonged starvation includes heart disorders and high blood pressure, irreversible kidney damage due to water deprivation and unbalanced blood pressure, weakened immune system, neurological issues, damage to the eyes and digestive system, and psychological harm.
At the hospitals where the returnees have arrived, medical teams are conducting tests to assess the deficiencies and damages they have suffered. The goal is to develop a personalized treatment plan for each individual, including medical, pharmaceutical and nutritional care.
