IDF eliminates 5 terror suspects during brigade-level operation in Jenin
One border police officer was lightly injured in a stabbing attack near Jerusalem
The Israeli Air Force struck armed terrorist squads during an operation by the security forces in Jenin, one of the main terror centers in northern Samaria, also known as the West Bank.
On Tuesday morning, the IDF spokesman reported that during the Monday operation in Jenin, the Air Force (IAF) conducted two airstrikes targeting armed terrorist squads. The first strike hit two terrorists on a motorcycle who had fired at Israeli forces, while the second struck another squad also targeting security forces.
Overnight Tuesday, Judea and Samaria Border Police undercover units, along with IDF troops and guided by intelligence from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), conducted operations to arrest wanted terrorists and target terrorist infrastructure in Jenin and the Jenin refugee camp in the Menashe Region.
During the operation, a Border Police undercover unit arrested a suspect linked to terrorist activity. When the forces arrived at his home area, the suspect attempted to flee with another armed suspect. Undercover police opened fire at them, eliminated the terrorist and neutralized the wanted man who tried to flee with him.
During the operation, additional armed terrorists fired at and threw IEDs at the security forces. Undercover Border Police officers returned fire, killing 4 terrorists and neutralizing another 10 who posed a threat. No casualties were reported among Israeli forces.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that the death toll from the Israeli airstrikes had risen to 5.
Palestinian media reported that an 18-year-old killed in the airstrike was identified as Ahmed Hassam al-Saadi, whom they claimed was a volunteer paramedic. However, social media images of al-Saadi showed him holding weapons and displaying terror-related paraphernalia.
Also on Tuesday morning, a Border Police soldier was lightly wounded in a stabbing attack near the southern tunnel checkpoint at the Judea-Jerusalem border.
The incident began at around 10:45 a.m., when a passenger bus that arrived at the checkpoint was detained for inspection. Passengers were asked to disembark the bus for an inspection.
Shortly after, one of the passengers reportedly attacked a Border Police officer with a screwdriver and stabbed her as she struggled with him. The terrorist was shot and killed by another Border Police soldier at the scene. The officer was evacuated for treatment for minor injuries.
Upon further inspection, the police found a box cutter and another sharp tool in the terrorist's possession.
