In first, Israel's education minister admits gov’t failure: ‘We were busy with nonsense’
“No one will escape responsibility, we are responsible - I am responsible as a member of the government,” Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kisch told Ynet news on Thursday, becoming the first to publicly admit the colossal failure of the government to prevent the Hamas terror group's invasion and brutal attack against Israel on Saturday.
“We were busy with nonsense, we forgot where we are living,” Kisch said on Day 6 of the war that Israel has named "Operation Iron Swords."
But he also stressed, “Now is not the time to deal with it… We need to gather our strength, to fight and to win.”
Kisch continued, “I met a survivor from Netiv HaAsara who saved her children. She looked me in the eyes and said to me, ‘Promise me that what is happening in Gaza, that Hamas is there, will not happen again. I looked her in the eyes and told her – ‘There will be no Hamas in Gaza, period.'”
