After a year and a half of war: Israel ranked 8th in World Happiness Index

Israel is ranked 8th in the World Happiness Index for 2022-2024, according to the Gallup Global Life Evaluation Survey, conducted in collaboration with Oxford University and the United Nations. The poll results were published on Thursday.
Last year, Israel was ranked 5th, and two years ago, it was ranked 4th. Despite the drop, Israel continues to rank high, positioned between Norway and Luxembourg, while Scandinavian countries, led by Finland, occupy the top four spots.
The war that began at the end of 2023 had an impact, as the survey indicated a significant increase in negative emotions in Israel during that year. However, the latest data show signs of improvement: a decrease in negative emotions and an increase in positive emotions, approaching the normal level since the start of measurements.
Despite the decline in ranking, overall stability in Israeli 'quality-of-life' assessments has been stable over the years. Notably, Israel is ranked first in the world for citizen satisfaction with their social connections.
Israel holds the top spot in the Middle East Happiness Index. Yemen is ranked 140th globally, Palestinians 108th, and Iran 99th.
