Four IDF soldiers were wounded overnight during operational activity in the Lebanon border area in northern Israel.

One soldier was seriously wounded, two soldiers were moderately wounded, while a fourth was lightly wounded by the explosion.

Israel Defense Forces has not clarified the source of the explosion, only stating that the incident is being investigated.

The wounded soldiers were evacuated to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya. The severely wounded soldier received life-saving surgery and was hospitalized in serious condition. The two soldiers defined as mild to moderate, were taken into the trauma room for treatment. The fourth soldier, in light condition, was said to be undergoing tests in the emergency room.

According to subsequent reports, their conditions had stabilized and their lives were not in danger.

Residents of the Western Galilee reported hearing heavy artillery fire towards Lebanese territory this morning, possibly to provide cover for the rescue of the wounded soldiers.

The Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Mayadeen network reported strikes in the areas of Dahira and Naqoura in southern Lebanon.

Following reports of the artillery fire, several air raid sirens sounded in the Western Galilee region, as Hezbollah launched several mortars in response to the Israeli artillery fire.

N14 news reporter Hillel Biton Rosen reported that the activity was in the western sector of the northern border next to Lebanon. The operational activity involved troops from the Sayeret Golani Battalion and the Yahalom unit.

Just after noon, air raid sirens sounded in the Western Galilee again in response to a reported hostile aircraft intrusion.

Early Monday afternoon, Hezbollah claimed that their forces had planted an IED near the border, which was activated when an IDF presence was detected in the area.

“The resistance planted a number of IEDs inside Lebanese territory near the border, and when a Golani force reached the area, the IEDs were detonated,” the group stated.
